Written on the wall in Mother Teresa's home for children in Calcutta:
People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered.
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you'll win some unfaithful friends and some true enemies.
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you.
Be honest and sincere anyway.
What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight.
Create anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous.
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, will often be forgotten.
Do good anyway.
Give the best you have, and it will never be enough.
Give your best anyway…
Mother Teresa's charities in Calcutta are as real as it gets. Words could never do justice to what I witnessed there.
She was so simple, yet so effective… and her legacy of compassion lives on.
The least we can do is try to follow her advice. We'll forget, but we can remember. A steady practice is all in the returning to it.
Om Shanti, I'll see you in class.

In the end – if we are true to our hearts – we will be brought to the path of compassion and ultimately… enlightenment.
Sri Radhe!
John,
Thank you for sharing this sweet reminder that essentially, it's nice to be nice.
Have a wonderful weekend.
OM Shanti,
laura 🙂
I will keep her words in my mind and in my heart as I go through my day as well as teach them to my children so they can do the same. Thank you John!
